Smithtown Unveils Historic Statue on Damianos’ Front Lawn

Posted on December 10, 2015

Damianos Realty Group is proud to hold the beautiful town of Smithtown near and dear to our hearts. Dr. Xenophon Damianos started our family-owned business in Smithtown over 45 years ago – and the quaint Long Island town has since been home to our company headquarters. It is with great pleasure that we join in the commemoration of the 350th anniversary of the founding of Smithtown – with the unveiling of a magnificent and memorable tribute.

In early 2014, Smithtown-based Damianos Realty Group commissioned world famous Studio Eis to design and build a legacy at the corner of Route 111 and Middle Country Road – an 8-foot tall, larger than life statue of Richard “Bull Rider” Smith, founder of Smithtown. The bronze sculpture – with the deed to the town held securely in his hand – joins the emblematic “Whisper the Bull” as the latest figure to immortalize the town’s history.

Senators and other local politicians attending the unveiling of the statue spoke on behalf of the Smith family. Surviving Smith family descendants traveled from across the country to join the Damianos family in a collective effort to give back to the community. This extraordinary new statue now stands outside of the Damianos Realty Group office building, 180 East Main Street. We’re proud to make its presence a part of our daily routine.
