Xenophon Damianos

Xenophon Pelops Damianos , M.D.

The late Dr. Xenophon Damianos, local family physician, real estate developer and humanitarian, was a pioneer in the medical office space development and the founder of Damianos Realty Group, LLC, a multi-million dollar, privately-owned real estate company headquartered in Smithtown, NY.

Dr. Damianos’ long and illustrious career began when he received his medical degree from the University of  Bologna, Italy in 1961. Not long afterward he recognized the need for senior citizens’ care and housing and pursued this need by building adult and nursing homes on both the north and south shores of Long Island. He also saw the opportunity to acquire and develop commercial medical / office space, retail shopping centers and residential communities. He developed the Stony Brook Medical Park & Davis Professional Park condominiums and many other innovative complexes in the local business field.

Dr. Damianos was actively involved in his community throughout his life; he served as Police Surgeon for the Suffolk County Police Department and as Fire Surgeon for the Stony Brook Fire Department from 1968-1970 and was a member of the Suffolk County Medical Society as well as the New York State Medical Society. In 1986, he was honored by Suffolk County and named "Humanitarian of the Year" by the Long Island Charities Foundation.

He and his wife Virginia received the Distinguished Alumni Award from SUNY Plattsburgh for achievement, humanitarian efforts and contributions to the college in 1995.  In 2002, Dr. Damianos was honored as the " Man of the Year" at Stony Brook University Hospital’s Eighth Annual Research Classic to benefit research for the Stony Brook Heart Center.

A man of many accomplishments and a lifetime of achievement have earned Dr. Damianos the respect and love of countless thousands.
